The key to being a successful online marketer is to treat this like a real business and not just a hobby.
Now I don’t mean that you need thousands of pounds like you would with most business start ups and I speak form experience here, as I have owned a gift shop, a taxi firm, a horse riding stables, a restaurant and bar in Spain and currently a computer repair shop and dance school. You do get out of your business whatever you put into it. So if you plan to do an hours work on your business a month then don’t expect great rewards. Remember most business do not break even until the third year and that is in a business you have knowledge in. So if you have to learn the ropes first then you need to give your business a chance.
Most people have commitments in life like a mortgage or family to support and starting their own business means stepping out of that comfort zone. Fear creeps in and this stops people from pursuing their dream. This is such a shame as it does not have to be like that.
Earning an income online can seem daunting. There are so many directions you can take. If you are brand new to the internet affectionately known as "internet newbie" then this can be a difficult choice. So you need to ask your self what you want to achieve out of your new business. Do you want to sell your on product, someone else's or create a membership site? Do you want to sell physical product or digital products? The list goes on.
When I first started online marketing I found that often I would get stuck at a certain point and then not know how to move forward due to lack of knowledge. I did not have any idea how to create a website and even if I did I did not have a clue how to promote it so it could end up sitting in the graveyard of lost sites.
Not being one of those people that give up easily, I became a voyeur,.............. no not the sleazy kind . I watched all the active so called gurus from a distance until I came across the ones that I liked the best.
So where do you start?
The easiest and cheapest way to start marketing online is to practice with other peoples products first as all the hard work has been done. The web site has already been created and so has the Sales pages and auto responder messages etc. So all you have to do is learn how to promote it. With the experience you gain you can then consider creating your own product .
The fastest way to learn is to have a mentor. I have many mentors all specializing in different areas. Finding the right mentor can be quite a challenge. It can also be quite an expense. The cheapest way to get started it to join a program with over the shoulder videos where you learn by watching someone else do what you want to do first. The beauty of the video is that you can learn at your own speed at a time that is convenient to you. if you are unsure about anything you can rewind and watch it again.
